Proudly serving since 1921.

Dean Mayfield with Trains

In 1921, Herschel Coleman, a young farm boy driving a Model T, established an insurance agency in Mooresville, IN. He was joined by his son-in-law Paul Bryant in the 1970s, who later took over ownership after Herschel passed. In 1989, Paul sold the agency to lifelong Mooresville resident Dean Mayfield, who established Mayfield Insurance in January 1995.

Mayfield Insurance has grown from two employees — one full-time and one part-time — to a staff of 12 and has acquired agencies in Monrovia, IN, and Broad Ripple, IN. We are honored to have represented Safeco Insurance Company since November 1937 and Auto-Owners Insurance since 1941, plus long relationships with other insurance companies. We’re proud to offer service you’d expect from a big city agency with the small-town relationships that have defined us for a century.

Dean and his wife, Peggy, are involved in several community organizations. Peggy is a State Representative who represents the majority of Morgan County. Both were active executive board members of Hoosier Trails Council, Boy Scouts of America, for more than 20 years and are also active in several local chambers of commerce. Dean recently became a member of the Morgan County Community Foundation, and the entire Mayfield family participates annually in the Mooresville Victorian Christmas celebration.
